STARS: Supplying Technology to At Risk Students
STARS provides FREE Refurbished Computer Systems to Students from low income families.
We respect everyone’s privacy.
The computers are donated by local businesses and the public, then expertly tested & reconditioned by the Bruce Grey Linux Users Group.
STARS installs Gnu/Linux Free Software, a completely Legal operating system which runs maintenance-free, has iron-clad security and comes with hundreds of installed applications including a complete office suite.
Easily save your work in Microsoft-compatible formats to open files at home & school.
Computers are distributed through the United Way Bruce Grey.
STARS GUIDELINES
1. Priority is given first to High School Students (it is required to present proof of enrollment).
2. Supply is always limited, first come first served!
3. NOTE: If you decide to put another operating system on your computer, Microsoft Windows, Mac etc, due to the number of people waiting for a computer and the extended time it takes to fix, we will not repair it.
4. NOTE: Stars Only installs and repairs GNU/Linux Operating Systems.
